Partner Company for the Rugby World Cup Legacy Programme

The Bennie Group is a partner company for the Rugby World Cup Legacy Programme for the East Midlands & Eastern Counties. The programme was launched by the International Rugby Board to ensure funding is in place to aid small local rugby clubs develop and grow. Alongside the programmes chairman for our area, Peter Wheeler from Leicester Tigers, We will be supporting grass roots rugby within our local community over the next 2 years

The rugby world cup is the third largest sporting event in the world after the Olympics and football world cup. The event creates a huge amount of interest in the sport, both during and after every competition, when local rugby clubs get inundated with children and young adults wanting to play and imitate what they have watched on television.

As small local clubs are run by volunteers, they can often struggle to support a wave of new and eager people wanting to take up rugby. All interest in the sport is encouraged and to help shape the future of fans and players, the Legacy Programme provides these small clubs with the support they need to provide better facilities, referees, coaches, volunteers and accessibility to the sport.
