Working Hours:

Monday to Friday 42.5 hours per week. You are also so required to work such additional hours as may be necessary for the proper performance of your duties or that may be required to fulfil role.

Job Role/Description

Bennie Equipment are seeking a skilled and adaptable National Field Service Engineer of Forklifts to provide technical support across multiple regions. This role involves deployment to areas experiencing reduced engineering capacity due to absence, increased demand, or resource gaps. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out diagnostics, servicing, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of material handling equipment, often working independently in the field. This may involve spending several days in one location (e.g., Devizes) before being reassigned to another (e.g., Leominster), based on operational requirements. This role demands a high level of technical proficiency, strong fault-finding abilities, and the flexibility to travel and work across various customer sites at short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Travel Nationally with a requirement to stay overnight 4 days a week (M, T, W, TH)
  • Repair, maintain, and service materials handling equipment
  • Repair or replace faulty parts
  • Request parts via a tablet
  • Report to Service Co-ordinator for scheduled work
  • Maintain and develop relationships with customers
  • Follow Service Team procedures
  • Pursue personal development of skills and knowledge necessary for effective performance of the role and attend training courses as required
  • Adhere to The Bennie Group Quality and Compliance responsibilities, and policies and procedures
  • Adhere to and champion Health & Safety responsibilities and procedures

Competencies

Essential

  • Experience in the forklift and materials handling industry
  • Qualified Forklift engineer or equivalent
  • Numeracy skills
  • Analytical with an eye for detail
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Professional and strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Highly Flexible and willing to support team members with enquires

Desirable

  • Good working knowledge of a System such as Protean
  • Experience of managing assigned jobs via a tablet of similar equipment
