Wroxton Stone at Hampton Court Flower Show

Serial award winning landscape gardener Pete Sims from Reading has been using ironstone from Wroxton Quarry near Banbury in many of his award winning water gardens.

Pete uses ironstone from Peter Bennie Ltd because the stone is particularly suited to water features. He said “Some stone can have a tendency to “enrich” the water with minerals which can lead to unwanted algae growth. Ironstone from Wroxton is a good choice because it doesn’t have this tendency and it look striking with its natural red, brown and blue colouring both wet and dry. We use it a lot in our features.”

Pete started off as a ground worker in the landscaping industry but saw an opportunity to develop his imagination and flare for design by specialising in water gardens and by using more exciting and creative materials. He decided to go it alone and start his own business, Landscape Garden Services Ltd. Pete exhibits every year at Hampton Court Flower Show and his business services various aspects of landscaping including commercial, private gardens and horticulture – with a special interest in water gardens naturally.
